Parents and caregivers must make healthy child weight their priority if we are to see continued progress in the fight against childhood obesity. Dr. Dianne Ward and the Children’s Healthy Weight Research group have focused their research on developing innovative tools and strategies to encourage and support this effort.
Vision: To be leaders in child obesity prevention by creating evidence-based initiatives that improve the health and well-being of children, their families, and other caregivers through innovative research on obesity, nutrition and physical activity.
Mission: Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children and families through:
- Evaluation of novel programs and policies designed to positively influence the health behaviors and health outcomes of children and the adults who provide their care
- Innovative obesity prevention research to understand determinants of child diet and physical activity behaviors as well as weight outcomes
- Engagement with local, national, and global communities
- Dissemination of findings through publications and presentations targeting both professional and lay publics
